Top 10 Coupling Manufacturers in India (2026): Where They Are and What They Make

Ten companies that make couplings in India, checked on 24 September 2026 against their own websites and filings: head office, founding year, coupling types and certificates, plus the nine that make gear couplings.

The top 10 coupling manufacturers in India, as ranked here, are Super Mech Industries (SMI), Elecon Engineering, Rathi Transpower (Ringfeder, sold as Lovejoy India), Premium Transmission, J.K. Fenner, Nu-Teck Couplings, K.I. Transpower, Sahara Engineers with Raghuveer Industries, Surbhi Industries and GBM Manufacturing. Nine of them make gear couplings; Premium Transmission makes fluid couplings only.

Disclosure and method. This list is published by Super Mech Industries, which ranks itself first; every other entry is based on the company's own website, checked 24 September 2026. Where a company or its parent group publishes an annual report, a certificate or a regulatory release, we used that too. We did not use marketplace listings such as IndiaMART or TradeIndia. To be listed, a company had to show that it makes couplings in India, name its head office and list the coupling types it makes. After SMI, the order follows how independent that evidence is: first statutory filings or current third-party certificates that name couplings (Elecon, Rathi Transpower, Premium Transmission); then a named plant with a certificate or MSME ZED rating (J.K. Fenner, Nu-Teck, K.I. Transpower); then companies with no current certificate, where the evidence is their own description (Sahara and Raghuveer, Surbhi, GBM). Within each group the older company comes first (for Premium Transmission we use its 1983 registration), and GBM, which publishes no founding year, comes last. Ratings are given as each company publishes them, in its own units.

Not on this list. Renold sells couplings in India, but renold.in says they are made by group companies in Cardiff, Wales and Westfield, New York, and Renold Chain India reports a single business, industrial chains and sprockets. Lovejoy, Inc. of the USA, owned by Timken since 2016, bases its US manufacturing in Downers Grove, Illinois and South Haven, Michigan, and lists no manufacturing in India; the Lovejoy India brand belongs to entry 3. We also left out smaller firms whose own websites did not let us confirm that they make couplings in India.

1. Super Mech Industries (SMI), Ahmedabad

Super Mech Industries was founded in 2013 and is based at 108/A Shri Ram Estate, Odhav, Ahmedabad. It makes full and half gear couplings in sizes FG-100 to FG-119, rated from 559 to 1,666,744 Nm, and is certified to ISO 9001:2015. Its 31 products include brake drum, tyre, HRC, star, chain, pin-bush, nylon and rigid couplings, plus gearboxes and brakes, and it exports to 29 countries. 2. Elecon Engineering Company Ltd, Vallabh Vidyanagar

Elecon was founded in 1951 in Goregaon, Mumbai. Its registered and corporate office is on Anand-Sojitra Road, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, where its annual report places both of its plants, and it is listed on the BSE and NSE. It makes six kinds of coupling: ELIGN geared, ELFLEX flexible, fluid, scoop-controlled variable-speed fluid, torsion shaft and HFC-A highly flexible. ELIGN gear couplings of the ED and ET types run from size 130 to 110000, rated 1,300 to 1,100,000 Nm. TÜV Rheinland certifies the Gear Division to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, with a scope that names fluid, flexible, geared and scoop couplings, until 20 November 2028. 3. Rathi Transpower (Ringfeder Power Transmission India), Pune

Rathi Transpower is based on Alandi-Markal Road, Pune, with a second plant at Kolhapur. Its parent, Sweden's VBG Group, says it was founded in 1965; VBG bought it in 2023 through Ringfeder Power Transmission India. In India its products are now sold as LOVEJOY INDIA (lovejoyindia.com) and elsewhere as RINGFEDER. It makes gear couplings (LFG, LHG, RGD and RGS) plus jaw, tyre, pin and bush, grid, disc, sleeve, rigid and fluid couplings. Its LFG catalogue lists full gear couplings in sizes 100 to 119, rated 559 to 1,666,744 Nm, with bores up to 710 mm. The Bureau Veritas ISO 9001:2015 certificate, valid to 2 November 2027, covers gear coupling design and manufacture at Pune. Website: rathicouplings.com.

4. Premium Transmission Ltd, Pune

Premium Transmission has its registered office and Unit I at Chinchwad, Pune, and further plants at Falta in West Bengal and Shendra, Aurangabad. Its FY2022-23 annual report says the group is primarily engaged in making gearboxes, fluid couplings and geared motors. Fluid couplings are the only couplings on its website: variable-speed types PST, PSV, PSVS/DPSVS, PTXL and SCR go up to 11,000 kW, and constant-speed fluid couplings up to 2 MW. The current company was registered on 26 April 1983; the group dates its gear business from 1961. It lists ISO 9001:2015 certificates for Units I, II and IV, a Machinery Directive certificate for gearboxes and fluid couplings, and ATEX certificates for Units 2 and 4. 5. J.K. Fenner (India) Ltd, Madurai

J.K. Fenner, renamed from Fenner (India) in 2013 and part of the JK Organisation, has its registered office in Madurai and its corporate office in Chennai. It began Indian operations in 1929 as a trading company and says it was incorporated in 1955. Its Plant 5 at Pashamailaram, Telangana, lists couplings among its products. The range covers ESSEX jaw, HRC, pin bush, Fenaflex tyre, gear and resilient couplings. Gear couplings come in 19 sizes rated 1,100 to 1,470,000 Nm, with bores of 14 to 710 mm, and custom spacer and torsion shaft gear couplings are made to order. That plant lists ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 4500:2018 as printed, which we read as ISO 45001:2018. Website: jkfenner.com.

6. Nu-Teck Couplings Pvt Ltd, Pune

Nu-Teck started in 1968 as Nu-Teck Engineering Corporation, making sprockets and conveyor chains. Its registered and head office and its plant are at Bhosari, Pune, where it runs CNC gear hobbing and gear shaping machines. It makes full flexible, half flexible and special gear couplings, plus roller chain, torque limiter, jaw, pin bush, nylon sleeve gear, tyre and disc couplings. Its full flexible range comes in 21 sizes, GC-100 to GC-118, rated up to 113,000 kg·m with bores up to 610 mm. The TÜV Rheinland ISO 9001:2015 certificate on its website is valid until 6 November 2026. Website: nuteckcouplings.com.

7. K.I. Transpower Pvt Ltd, Kundli (Haryana)

K.I. Transpower was established in 2012 and makes couplings at Plot 176, HSIIDC Industrial Estate, Kundli, in Sonipat district, Haryana. Its range covers gear, geared brake drum, resilient grid, multi disc, tyre, pin bush and jaw couplings, plus cardan shafts and gearboxes. Its full gear couplings run from size 100 to 119, rated 559 to 1,666,744 Nm, with bores up to 710 mm. The ISO 9001:2015 certificate on its website, whose scope names gear couplings, expired on 10 October 2025, and no renewal is shown. It holds an MSME ZED Gold certificate issued in March 2024. 8. Sahara Engineers and Raghuveer Industries, Ahmedabad

Sahara Engineers and Raghuveer Industries both give Plot 1512, Phase 3, GIDC Vatva, Ahmedabad as their address and publish the same director phone numbers, and Raghuveer's brochure carries Sahara's text and web address, so we list them together. Sahara says it was founded in 1998 by Narsinh Sekhalia and describes itself as an engineering machine shop. Both publish full gear couplings in sizes 100 to 119, rated up to 149,000 kg·m with bores up to 710 mm, plus half gear half rigid, rigid, brake drum geared, grid, long teeth and torsion shaft couplings. Sahara's website displays an ISO 9001:2015 badge but publishes no certificate; Raghuveer names no certification. Websites: gearcouplingsindia.com and raghuveergearcoupling.com.

9. Surbhi Industries, Ahmedabad

Surbhi Industries was established in 1999 in the Rakhial industrial area of Ahmedabad, at 20 Gravity Estate, Chakudia Mahadev Road. It describes itself as a manufacturer and exporter of flexible gear, C.I. brake drum, rigid, brake drum geared, nylon gear, pin bush, tyre and chain couplings, and also lists gearboxes and gears. Its gear coupling table runs from size 100 to 119, rated up to 149,000 kg·m. The ISO 9001:2015 certificate it publishes, whose scope covers gear coupling manufacture at the Rakhial address, expired on 31 August 2023, and no renewal is published. 10. GBM Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, Kolkata

GBM Manufacturing has its office on Camac Street, Kolkata, and works at Shalimar and at Kidderpore Industrial Estate. It was founded by N.M. Ghose, with Gita Ghosh as co-founder; its website gives no founding year. GBM says it both manufactures and represents product lines. Its Roto Gear curved-tooth gear couplings come in seven executions, from full geared and mill motor to floating shaft, brake drum and vertical types, and it also makes HI-Torque grid, ROTOPIN pin bush, ROTOFLEX tyre, Rotodisc disc, jaw and shear pin couplings. The largest full gear size, RG 19, is rated 148,956 kg·m with a 710 mm maximum bore. Its website claims no certification. Website: gbmcoupling.com.

Top 10 gear coupling manufacturers in India: the nine we could confirm

Nine companies on this list make gear couplings in India: SMI, Elecon Engineering, Rathi Transpower (Lovejoy India), J.K. Fenner, Nu-Teck Couplings, K.I. Transpower, Sahara Engineers with Raghuveer Industries, Surbhi Industries and GBM Manufacturing. Premium Transmission makes fluid couplings only. No other company we checked met the same test for gear couplings, so this list stops at nine rather than adding a name we could not confirm.

Four entries in this table give torque in kg·m, not Nm. One kg·m is 9.80665 Nm, so 149,000 kg·m is about 1,461,000 Nm. Size numbers do not carry across makers either: size 119 is rated 1,666,744 Nm in the Rathi and K.I. Transpower tables but 149,000 kg·m in the Sahara, Raghuveer and Surbhi tables. Gear coupling makers in Ahmedabad and Gujarat

Four entries on this list are in Gujarat, and three of them are in Ahmedabad: SMI at Odhav, Sahara Engineers and Raghuveer Industries at GIDC Vatva, and Surbhi Industries at Rakhial. The fourth, Elecon Engineering, is at Vallabh Vidyanagar in Anand district.

How to choose a coupling manufacturer in India

• Start with the coupling type. Not every maker here makes every type. Premium Transmission makes only fluid couplings, and only some of the others make fluid, disc or grid couplings. Check the types column above before you shortlist.
• Size on design torque, in one unit. Work out the design torque (motor kW × 9,550 ÷ rpm × service factor), convert every catalogue rating to Nm, and compare ratings rather than size numbers.
• Read the certificate, not the claim. Ask for the certificate itself and check three things: the scope names the couplings you are buying, the address is the plant that will make them, and the validity date has not passed. Two certificates published on company websites in this list had lapsed when we checked.
• Ask where it is made. A brand sold in India is not always made in India. Ask for the plant address and check that it appears on the certificate.
• Send a complete enquiry. Shaft diameters and keyways, motor kW and rpm, the driven machine and the gap between shaft ends let a maker size a coupling in one reply.
